Special Programs
Resource Specialist Program
The Resource Specialist Program (RSP) is a federally mandated program serving students who have various learning disabilities. Most of the students have normal or even above average intelligence, but a processing problem has been identified. These students often require support services in order to reach their potential. Most of these students receive the majority of their education in the regular program as it is required that a “least restrictive” environment maximize learning.
The Resource Specialist, the Psychologist, the classroom teacher, the parents, and the child are involved in creating an Individual Education Plan (IEP) for each year that it is needed.
Other special education services include a speech program and therapy specific to physical challenges.
RSP teacher: Ms. Sarah Rodriguez
Instructional Aide: Mrs. Rhoda Clayton

The Student Study Team meets weekly to discuss individual students’ progress or lack thereof. The team is made up of Special Ed and regular education teachers, literacy coach, nurse and psychologist. Collaboratively the team develops strategies that may help a struggling learner.
