Letter from Mrs. Stewart 3/17/2020

Dear Los Paseos Families,

Let me start by wishing you all a good afternoon. We appreciate all you are doing to create some sense of normalcy for your children. My first advice to you is to BREATHE. It is okay to lower your expectations, especially these first days. You do not have to recreate a “perfect school day” at home.

Reach out to your child’s teacher for support. We are here to serve you. Teachers will be communicating with you via email and ClassTag or Bloomz to share enrichment resources.

At the beginning of the year, all teachers take time to set up rituals and routines.  A consistent daily learning schedule, if you can provide that, will help your children. This may be helpful to you as you try to support your learners at home.  There are many resources for you on the internet to do this. I have copied just one of the many resources available to you: Home Daily Schedule

Our goal for students at this time is to keep them reading, writing, and thinking in all the best ways.We want students to be practicing and maintaining skills. They will not be taught new material. Our teachers have been diligently working on learning enrichment for your students. Each teacher will be emailing resources to you. They have all committed to having the lessons completed by Friday, March 20, if not sooner. This means that one child may have their lessons a little before another child due to grade level differences. Please be patient as we prepare the work for your learners. Every grade level will be sending this out.  Further, if your child requires a Chromebook in order to access these resources, please let your child’s teacher know. We will be able to check out a Chromebook to your family. The Chromebook will have to be returned the first day back at school.

Teachers are also available to you via email if you need curricular assistance.

If your family does not have the internet, here is a link for free WIFI for 60 days.  Free Internet

Resources for parents:

Clare Landrigan is one of my favorites as we start this home-learning adventure...

This one has great enrichment!

Scholastic has day-by-day projects to keep kids reading, thinking, and growing.

Other resources:

Food Resources      Mental Health Services

Our top priority at this time is the health and well-being of our dear students, staff, and their families. Please reach out if we can help you in any way. We are in this together. Be well.

Sincerely,

Debbie Stewart
